RaceThere

Use RaceThere in Claude and ChatGPT

Ask your AI assistant to find races, compare them and predict your finish time, using RaceThere's live race listings.

RaceThere works as a connector for any assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It's free, and there's no account or sign-in. Add this server URL to your assistant:

https://racethere.com/mcp

Add RaceThere to Claude

On a Free, Pro or Max plan:

  1. Go to Customize > Connectors and click Add custom connector.
  2. Name it RaceThere and enter the server URL above. If asked how people authenticate, choose No sign-in.
  3. Click Add.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it for everyone under Organization settings > Connectors: click Add, then Custom, and enter the URL. Members then find it under Customize > Connectors.

To use it in a chat, click +, choose Connectors and make sure RaceThere is on. Once you've added it on the web or desktop, it also works in the Claude mobile apps.

Add RaceThere to ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it RaceThere, enter the server URL above and choose no authentication.
  3. Review the notice, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan, and workspace admins may need to allow them first.

Other MCP clients

Point any client that supports remote MCP servers at the URL above. It uses the Streamable HTTP transport and needs no authentication. In Claude Code, for example:

claude mcp add --transport http racethere https://racethere.com/mcp

Things to ask

  • “Find half marathons near Austin in March.”
  • “Are there any trail races within 50 miles of Boulder in the next 4 weeks?”
  • “What's on at the Boise Half Marathon, and is registration still open?”
  • “I ran a 25:30 5K. What could I run for a 10K and a half marathon?”

In Claude, ChatGPT and other apps that support MCP Apps, search results appear as race cards. Each card links to the race's RaceThere page, and a race's card links to its registration page.

Tools

Every tool only reads public race information. None change data.

search_races
Finds upcoming US races by city and state or ZIP code and radius, distance (5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, ultra or a custom range), date window or month, trail or virtual, and words in the race name. Returns 20 races at a time, with date, location, distances, entry fee and a link to each race.
get_race
Gives one race's full details: each event's distance, start time and current fee, the address, registration status, any cancellation or postponement notice, and the organizer's description.
predict_race_time
Predicts finish times and paces at other distances from a recent result, with the same method as our race time predictor.

Good to know

  • Listings cover races in the United States that organizers list on RunSignUp, and they refresh regularly. Confirm details on the race's registration page before you sign up.
  • Registration and payment happen on RunSignUp or the organizer's site. Neither RaceThere nor your assistant can register you.
  • Your assistant writes its own answers from RaceThere's data, so it can still make mistakes.

Privacy

RaceThere receives only the details of each request, such as a place to search or a race ID, and not your conversation. We record those details, without anything that identifies you, to see how RaceThere is used. Our privacy policy explains what we collect, and our terms of use cover how RaceThere can be used.

Help

If the connector isn't working, or a race looks wrong, email [email protected] with the assistant you're using and what you asked. You'll find answers to common race questions on our support page.
