RaceThere

Privacy policy

What RaceThere collects, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated October 25, 2026

RaceThere is a free race search. You don't need an account, we don't run ads, and we don't sell personal information. This policy covers racethere.com and the RaceThere connector for Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants. In it, “we” means the RaceThere Team.

What we collect

When you browse RaceThere

We use PostHog to understand how people use the site. PostHog receives:

  • the pages you view, the page that sent you here, and campaign tags in the link
  • your browser, operating system, device type and screen size
  • your IP address, which PostHog stores with each event and uses to estimate your city and country
  • how quickly pages load, and errors that occur
  • clicks, including repeated clicks on something that doesn't respond
  • the race searches you run: place, ZIP code, radius, distance, date window, race type, words you search for, and sort order
  • the races you open, and when you follow a link to a race's registration page

PostHog keeps a random identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, so visits from the same browser can be counted together. It isn't linked to your name or email address. We don't record your screen or sessions.

When you use RaceThere in an AI assistant

When you ask Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant to use RaceThere, the assistant sends us the details of that request, such as the place, distance and dates to search, a race ID, or a finish time to convert. We use them to answer the request.

We also record each request in PostHog, so we can see how RaceThere is used in assistants: which tool ran, the search details or race, how many results came back, how long it took, and any error. For finish time predictions we record the distances, not your times. Each record names the assistant app and the version of the connection protocol it used, taken from what the app reports about itself, such as its name and user agent. These records carry no identifier for you.

RaceThere links that assistants show you are tagged with the assistant's name (for example, utm_source=claude), so our analytics can count visits that come from assistants. Registration links pass through racethere.com, which records the click with the race and the assistant, and then sends you on to RunSignUp.

We don't receive the rest of your conversation, or your name or account with the assistant. Claude and ChatGPT send these requests from their own servers, so the requests don't carry your IP address. An app running on your own device connects directly, so our server sees its IP address, as with any web request. Your AI provider's own privacy policy covers your conversation.

In assistants that show race cards, your device loads race logos from RunSignUp's image servers and fonts from racethere.com. Like any web request, these show your device's IP address to the server that answers them. Font requests are covered by our request logs and aren't part of our analytics.

When you use a calculator

Our running calculators work entirely in your browser. What you enter, such as race times, age or weight, isn't sent to us.

Request logs

Like most websites, our servers keep standard request logs: the IP address, browser, page requested and time. We use them to keep the site secure and working.

When you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you include, and use it to reply.

How we use it

  • to run RaceThere and answer your searches and requests
  • to learn which searches, races, guides and tools are useful, so we can improve them
  • to find and fix errors and slow pages
  • to keep the site and connector secure and prevent abuse
  • to reply to you

We don't sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Who else is involved

  • PostHog runs our analytics on our behalf, in the United States. See PostHog's privacy policy.
  • RunSignUp provides race listings. Race logos load from RunSignUp's image servers, which receive your IP address like any image request. Registration happens on RunSignUp or the organizer's site, where their privacy policies apply. Registration links carry a RaceThere referral code, which identifies RaceThere as the referrer, not you.
  • Our hosting provider runs the servers that serve RaceThere and keep its request logs.
  • AI providers, such as Anthropic for Claude and OpenAI for ChatGPT, handle your conversations under their own policies.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of RaceThere's users and team.

Cookies and local storage

The PostHog identifier above is the only thing RaceThere stores in your browser. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't track you across other websites. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, and RaceThere works the same without them.

How long we keep it

PostHog keeps analytics events, including the IP address stored with them, for one year on our plan, then deletes them. Request logs are kept for a short time for security and troubleshooting. We keep emails as long as we need them to help you.

Your choices

  • To stop analytics, turn on your browser's tracking protection or use a content blocker. RaceThere still works.
  • To see, correct or delete information about you, email us. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal information, and we'll honor them.

Children

RaceThere is for a general audience and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us some, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site and connector use HTTPS, we limit who can see analytics and logs, and we collect only what we need. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be exposed.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll say so on the site.
